Scott Rasmussen has some interesting data today. He shows Bush and Kerry tied at 47% apiece. Much more interesting, however, are the numbers which suggest that the public is on to John Kerry's Vietnam fables. Forty-seven percent of voters have a positive opinion of Kerry's military service, while 36% have an unfavorable opinion. That is stunning, given that Kerry has based his campaign on that supposed strength, and has gotten nothing but cheerleading from the mainstream press. Worse yet, only 39% believe that Kerry is telling the truth about his experiences in Vietnam, while 31% believe he is exaggerating, and 15% say he is lying. Those percentages can only be expected to rise as people learn more about Christmas in Cambodia and Kerry's postwar denunciations of this fellow servicemen.
