Today in Arafatistan
The murder of Yasser Arafat's cousin Moussa, the former PA "security chief," has received substantially more attention than the attack on the Christians of Taiba over the weekend: "Arafat cousin killed in brazen challenge to Abbas." Like the Taiba story, however, this one also hits a PA trifecta of murder, terrorism, and evidence of some relationship between the murder and the Religion of Peace:
Arafat, 65, was killed after a 30-minute gunbattle between the assailants and dozens of his bodyguards. The fighting with rocket-propelled grenades and assault rifles raged just a block from the headquarters of the Palestinian security service. Mr Arafat’s oldest son, Manhal, was kidnapped by the gunmen.The Washington Post story adds:The Popular Resistance Committees (PRC), a violent group made up largely of former members of Abbas’ Fatah movement, later claimed responsibility. The group said that it killed Arafat to punish him for alleged corruption after the Palestinian security forces had taken no action against him.
"We have implemented God’s law," Mohammed Abdel Al, a PRC spokesman, told the Associated Press.
Moussa Arafat's son, Nimhel, who also worked in the security services, was missing. Witnesses said it was unclear if he had been kidnapped or had managed to escape.Is there anyone in his right mind who seriously believes that conferring statehood on the PA is the ticket to a happy future for those in Arafatistan?
