Dean Barnett's Daily Standard column takes a timely look at the press at the time of the 1863 New York draft riots: "The ghost of Horace Greeley." In a message Dean writes: "You could not have a more marked contrast between the Civil War newspapers and the ignominious lair of cowards that the mainstream media have become."
