For me, anyway, the most interesting items in the news have nothing to do with politics. Frequently, the subject is archaeology, like this morning, as a Greek archaeologist claims to have discovered the home of the Greek warrior Ajax on the island of Salamis. The photo below shows the central palace complex:

Actually, the article never explains what ties the discovery to Ajax, but no doubt there is a plausible reason for the connection. Scholars generally believe that Homer's account of the Trojan War is more or less true, with no doubt, some embellishments--just like many of today's news stories, let alone our popular entertainment.
