Last week, raids on alleged terrorists took place back to back in Canada and England. There is no reason to doubt that the Canadian authorities were on to something, but the London raid has apparently turned out to be a false alarm:

The two brothers freed without charge after they were held for a week as terrorist suspects could receive £500,000 in damages as a result of their ordeal.

Mohammed Abul Kahar, 23, and Abul Koyair, 20, were released after police found no trace of a chemical device which an informant had claimed was at their home in Forest Gate, east London.

Some have speculated that the tip came from someone with a grudge against the brothers; others have worried that terrorists could feed misinformation to the police. It's a sign of the times that the brothers are apparently in line for a million dollars after spending a week in jail.
