One of my brothers stumbled across this web page by a Russian web designer who visited, and photographed, North Korea. The pictures, with his brief accounts, are riveting. This one is of the North Korean countryside. Those are oxen, I think; click to enlarge: This one shows some government architecture and statues. The photograper, Artemii Lebedev, writes: The plaster statues are clean and not broken apart. North Korea is a perfect reproduction of the year 1950.
