The finale of the Miss World contest is Saturday night, and the betting odds are starting to take shape. There is no clear favorite, but Miss Venezuela is the front-runner at the moment, no doubt because she won the Miss Beach competition, which automatically put her into the finals. That's an impressive accomplishment, but frankly I don't buy it. I still say it's going to be a Caribbean final. (I know, Venezuela is on the Caribbean, but I'm talking islands.) If I'm wrong, the current betting odds favor Miss Australia, but again I don't believe it. If you're looking for a break from what I still think is a strong Caribbean contingent, Miss Estonia is an alternative: The competition is wide open, I think, and the winner Saturday night is likely to be a surprise. |
