Miss World: The Climax Approaches

BeachContest917.jpg

The finale of the Miss World contest is Saturday night, and the betting odds are starting to take shape. There is no clear favorite, but Miss Venezuela is the front-runner at the moment, no doubt because she won the Miss Beach competition, which automatically put her into the finals.

That's an impressive accomplishment, but frankly I don't buy it. I still say it's going to be a Caribbean final. (I know, Venezuela is on the Caribbean, but I'm talking islands.) If I'm wrong, the current betting odds favor Miss Australia, but again I don't believe it.

If you're looking for a break from what I still think is a strong Caribbean contingent, Miss Estonia is an alternative:

The competition is wide open, I think, and the winner Saturday night is likely to be a surprise.
