Voting to kill, take 2

Voting To Kill is the new book by NRO regular Jim Geraghty (TKS). In the book Geraghty takes a timely look back at the elections of 2002 and 2004 and argues that the elections inaugurated an era of Republican leadership resulting from the response to 9/11.

I read the book this summer in galleys to review it for National Review. The current issue of National Review carries my review. The book is informative, entertaining and heartening. In the review I take issue with Jim on a few points and suggest that the trend of Republican dominance that he observes occurs within a larger trend of declining Republican strength in presidential elections.

Jim responds both to my review and to another review, one by Marc Danziger, in a post at TKS: "Discussing reviews, and why Bush didn't have a Reagan or Nixon reelection landslide." Jim's characteristic thoughtfulness and good humor are both on display in his response.

Jim was interviewed by John and the guys from Fraters Libertas during their portion of the Northern Alliance Radio show yesterday. I'm sure the interview will be available in John's podcast of the second hour of the show later this week. Unfortunately, the interview was disrupted by the kind of technical glitches that used to drive me nuts when I participated in the show. Again, Jim's good humor was prominently on display. Chad the Elder of Fraters also commented on the book here.

Last month NRO posted an interview with Jim about the book: "A party of vote killers?" Glenn and Helen Reynolds also interviewed him about the book, and Glenn has posted variously formatted audio recordings of the interview accessible via Instapundit here.
