Why Evan Bayh can't be nominated

I don't think I've ever seen a trenchant observation more concisely stated than Jay Nordlinger's regarding Evan Bayh in his Impromptus column at NRO today:

Bayh’s principal problem as a candidate in the Democratic primaries is that he can’t do enough to prove to voters that he’s nuts.
