I've been looking for updates to the story of last Saturday's Northwest Minneapolis-Boston flight on which a retired police commander (Bob Hayden, above) and a former Marine helped subdue two unruly passengers. The two unruly passengers were taken into custody by law enforcement authorities in Boston. The Boston Globe had a good story on Monday, with a striking conclusion: When the captain announced preparations for landing, [one unruly passenger] jumped up shouting, the flight attendant held up the handcuffs [as a signal to Hayden], and Hayden and the Marine came bounding down the aisle. Hayden said he and the retired Marine, whose name he never got, received an ovation from fellow passengers, and "some free air miles."Today's Hingham Journal profiles Bob Hayden as a hometown hero and mentions in passing that the two unruly passengers were Filipino. The Hingham Journal quotes Hayden: Bob said passengers on the flight were frightened and some were crying.Isn't anybody who works in the news business for a living interested in the rest of the story? |
