The appalling Clare Short quit today as Secretary for International Development, leveling a parting blast at her former boss, Tony Blair, in the House of Commons (among other things, she called him “Presidential.”)
Blair was no doubt glad to see the harridan gone; within the hour he announced the appointment of Baroness Amos to succeed Ms. Short. Baroness Amos, pictured below, is the first black woman to serve in the British Cabinet. More important, she is regarded as a loyal friend and supporter of the Prime Minister.
