The Madness Continues
Sadly, the anti-cartoon riots are still going on. Today in Pakistan, there was violence in two cities. In the photo below, fanatics trash a McDonald's restaurant in Lahore. The guy with the chair is about to throw it at the image at the top center, but that isn't a caricature of Mohammed, it's Ronald McDonald.
What does McDonald's have to do with the cartoons? Absolutely nothing. It's really pretty pointless to debate fine points of freedom of speech, etc., when what is going on has little or nothing to do with the original "offense." I assume that there are clerics who started these riots and can stop them if they want to. I also assume that their desire to turn out rioters who will feign, at least, being motivated by the cartoons has more to do with the internal politics of their own countries than anything else.
