I didn’t watch the CNN show, but Drudge reports that Time’s Man of the Year is everyone. You. So, for everyone who hasn’t yet had his or her 15 minutes: you’re covered.
The idea is that the big phenomenon of 2006 was user-generated content, i.e., blogs, YouTube and MySpace. I think that’s probably right; in fact, I’m slightly gratified that my nomination of the YouTube founders turned out to be the winning choice, sort of.
I do think, though, that if they’re going to do a Phenomenon of the Year award, they should stop calling it Person of the Year.
