The St. Paul Pioneer Press has sued the Star Tribune over the hiring of Par Ridder, former publishser of the Pioneer Press, to fill the same position at the Star Tribune. The Pioneer Press’s lawsuit alleges the violation of Ridder’s noncompete agreement and the appropriation of confidential Pioneer Press information. The Star Tribune reports on the lawsuit here and posts a copy of the complaint here (complaint exhibits here). Would that this were a newspaper war that might improve the quality of either paper, but it’s not.
