Big bang at the Star Tribune, part 2
Today's Star Tribune has more more details on the shakeup at the newspaper. Long-time Minnesota Poll head Rob Daves -- about whom I wrote in "The trouble with the Star-Trib poll" -- has been given his walking papers. Despite my disagreements with him, Rob is a gentleman who is highly respected within his profession and I wish him the best.
What about James Lileks? In today's Bleat, James notes the outpouring of support he has received. James writes: "[H]onestly, you’re embarrassing me. Please keep it up." I'm sure our friend Hugh Hewitt -- who devoted his entire three-hour radio show to James yesterday -- will have a few ideas about how to do that.
UPDATE: A particularly astute and observant reader adds:
Well, the good news is that as part of the “reorganization” the director of the Minnesota poll is gone. The bad news is that the poll is still with is, apparently in some sort of outsourced form.As I say above, Rob is a gentleman and in his conversations with me patiently defended his work. I'm not thrilled by his firing, but I think this good news/bad news scenario will unfortunately prove characteristic of the Star Tribune reorganization.
