Assist, Lieberman

Chris Cillizza at The Fix reports that Joe Lieberman will co-host a fundraiser for Republican Senator Susan Collins of Maine next month. The other host will be Arlen Specter. The event is being billed, accurately, as a very rare bipartisan fundraiser.
Collins’ positions on the war in Iraq and other defense matters suffer by comparison to Lieberman’s, so don’t expect to see me at the fundraiser. But it’s still neat that Lieberman is taking this step, which presumably is the prelude to active campaigning for Collins (who did the same for Lieberman last year), and therefore bad news for her Democratic opponent.
