McConnell considers his options

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell says he’s unsure whether he’ll support the comprehensive immigration reform legislation. Yesterday, McConnell told AP he would not decide how to vote on the measure until a long series of amendments are disposed of next week. Earlier in the week, McConnell had not wanted to comment on the legislation when queried by reporters. But on Thursday, he was willing to air his reservatations, saying “I’m not uniformly enthusiastic” and “substantively, there are things to like and things to not like about this bill.”
I don’t know which way McConnell will go, but I’m pretty sure that (1) the legislation won’t pass without his support and (2) he’ll have fewer members in his caucus in 2009 if the legislation passes than if it doesn’t.
